Friday Five

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Happy Friday, friends! Hope your week was a good one. Mine was productive, exciting, with plenty of chill mixed in.  Valentine’s Day was spent with my hubs. We fit in a few of our favorite things: Williams Sonoma, Barnes & Noble, and P.F. Chang.  I baked his favorite cookies for when he got home, and he surprised me with gorgeous calla lilies. We have been on a big plant kick lately, so I was even more excited to see that the calla lilies came straight from the farm & I can replant them! Eek! Potted plants & flowers are the gift that keeps on giving. If you read my last post, you know this. Calla lilies are also special to me, because my mom’s wedding bouquet was all calla lilies. Special. I’m going to enjoy them in the house for a bit, but can’t wait to plant them!

So, I think on Friday’s I’ll share 5 things currently happening around here. I’m not going to stick to categories, because I’m not one to stay in the lines.

Reading: Chasing Slow

I can’t come up with an adequate description for this book. It’s all about learning from hard things, growing, slowing, minimizing, staying true to you, loving where you are, and it’s also an autobiography of sorts.

Here’s a snip-it of what it says in the description: So you spend your life narrowing this divide, and you call this your race, your journey, your path. You live your days tightening your boot straps, wiping the sweat from your brow, chasing undiscovered happiness just around the bend. Higher! Faster! Better! Stronger!

I’ll just leave you with that. It’s a book I’ve had a hard time putting down. It’s totally relatable. Erin is a great writer, and I’d recommend this to any woman in their mid-20s to mid-30s.

Listening: Fresh Folk on Spotify

My husband & I love folk music, so I was happy to find this station to listen to during our slow weekend mornings of coffee and breakfast. If there was a soundtrack to my life, this would surely be it.

Watching: Justified

We are on a Justified bender. Kidding, but it is definitely the show we are binge watching together. It’s not a new show, but you can find it on Amazon Prime.

Wanting: to get our yard in order

I really hate winter grass, and the look of just “blah” this time of year. We are getting into warmer days, finally, but our yard needs to play catch up. I filled 2 big planters with flowers, but I can’t tell if it made the curb “appeal” look better or worse since our actual yard looks so terrible. Let’s get real…there’s nothing appealing right now. I need to rent a pressure washer & get after my outdoor sofa cushions, pressure wash the driveway, and have new pinestraw laid. That will help. I’m sure of it. 😉

Doing: running, hanging the last set of curtains in the living room, and organizing a few more things around here

I FINALLY got new running shoes on Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t even get one more run in with my old ones, they were hurting my feet so bad with how worn out they were. I went to my local running store, Fleet Feet, and the experience was AWESOME. They do so much to ensure you’re getting the right shoes for your feet. Getting fitted for running shoes is so important, and I’ve always done this, but my experience here was the best yet. And the 60 day money back guarantee can’t be beat.

So, that’s how my life has been this week. Hope you have a GREAT weekend! Make the most of it.
